On the 19th of November, The International School of Florence organised the 4th AIBWSI Senior Maths Team Competition. With my school team, we emerged as the winners of the competition, an accomplishment that has bolstered my passion for mathematics and problem-solving. This experience not only tested my mathematical abilities but also allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals, fostering a sense of camaraderie and intellectual growth.
I was also selected to take part in the Senior ISMTF Math Competition to be held in The Hague in early February, which will allow me to engage with students from different backgrounds and cultures, further broadening my perspective and enriching my learning journey.
INTERNATIONAL PHYSICS OLYMPIAD – ITALY
Currently, I am participating in the Italian Physics Olympiad, of which I have won the first round. I am preparing to compete in the second round, which requires attending five preparation sessions in addition to other practice modalities. I am hopeful that I will continue to move forward in this
exciting and prestigious competition.
I had the golden opportunity to meet James Olekinyaga, a dedicated and charismatic Maasai community leader, who truly inspired me to apply what I learned from working
with Boosting Futures and the Gemelli Junior Trust in the Maasai communities.
We are discussing the best ways to help his people in Kenya by allowing them to
identify their needs and creating a network of young volunteers willing to help
meet those needs while remaining respectful of the Maasai culture. I plan to visit Kenya in the summer of 2024 to meet with community members and assess their needs in person.
Some of the already planned initiatives will include:
– Organizing a book delivery
– Setting up the local school with computers & a wifi network for their students
I am involved in a new project at the Gemelli Hospital with the renowned Professor Scambia,
aimed at raising funds for the diagnosis and surgical management of cancerous conditions of the female reproductive system. The potential impact that this project can have on the treatment of women's cancer is truly exciting, and I am committed to contributing to advancements in this vital area of healthcare.
